O’Hare Train

Train from O’Hare to downtown Chicago

Chicago O’Hare Airport offers several train options to its passengers: 

CTA Blue Line 

CTA is the Chicago Transit Authority and provides train service throughout Chicago City and its surroundings.

The CTA Blue Line links O’Hare Airport with Forest Park terminal via downtown Chicago within 40 minutes. Blue Line trains are the easiest and most affordable way to get to O’Hare via public transit.​​​​

The Blue Line service runs 24 hours daily although there is more service during rush hours (weekdays during morning and evening).

Stops: O’Hare Airport, Jefferson Park, Logan Square, Clark/Lane, UIC-Halsted, Cicero and Forest Park.

Blue Line station is located at the lower level of parking garage. 

How to get to Blue Line Station from any of the airport terminals?

Use the ATS (Airport Transit System) that links each terminal (1, 2, 3 and 5) and various parking lots. ATS runs every 7 minutes approximately.

O’Hare Airport to Midway Airport

From O’Hare Airport take the Blue Line, get off at the Clark/Lake Station downtown and transfer to the Orange Line (free of charge) to finally get off at the Midway Station.

Metra Train

Metra offers commuter train service throughout Chicago metropolitan area. Metra’s North Central Service train line offers weekday service connecting downtown Chicago’s Union Station to the north central suburbs, terminating at Antioch.​

Opening hours: From 06:00 am to 07:30 pm, although hours are subject to change. 

How to get to Metra Station from any of the airport terminals?

Passengers can reach the station from the airport’s terminals taking ATS (Airport Transit System) to Economy parking Lot E or Kiss-N-Fly. From the Kiss-N-Fly, passengers need to board the airport shuttle bus service and stop at O’Hare Transfer Station​.

Passengers can use the O’Hare Transfer Station to reach Metra’s North Central Service trains to go to downtown Chicago and vicinities.

There are also Metro shuttles from the different terminals. Check for a shuttle bus marked "Metra" at the arrivals level. 


The Metra Station is located in the northeast side of ORD airport, at Zemke and Mannheim Roads.


To get from O’Hare Airport to Washington Street, fares start at 6.25$. 

In order to purchase your ticket, you will need to find a vending machine or agent. You can buy it on board too, but there is surcharge.
